The exhibition features works housed in the Rhode Island School of Design (the RISD Museum) in Rhode Island, USA. These pieces were collected and donated by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller (1874-1948), whose lifelong love for the bird-and-flower genre is reflected in these exquisite works.

Since many bird and flower works by prominent artists of the era have gone overseas, visitors will enjoy a rare opportunity to view a stunning array of masterpieces by legendary artists, including Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) and Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858)

The exhibition is on view from January 17th to March 1st, 2026 at The Chiba City Museum of Art.

It was fantastic to see this exhibition, especially since I have rarely had the chance to see bird-and-flower prints before. I really admire Abby Aldrich Rockefeller's artistic eye.
