SAMURAI Fes took place in Tokyo Metropolitan Ueno Park for four days from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26, 2023.
It was held for the first time in four years since the pandemic started in January 2020.
I did some volunteer work at a shop that gave visitors an experience to wear Samurai costume for 2000 yen per person for 15 minutes. My work was to help the guest to put on a suit of samurai armor and to take a lot of photos of them.
You'll see swords, two sets of Children's armor, and masks for a noh play on the left /in the middle/on the right respectively.
You'll come across samurais walking here and there in the site.
The shop displays an authentic suit of armor which was Ii Naomasa's (井伊直政) in his young days. Naomasa (1561～1602）was regarded as one of the Four Guardians of TOKUGAWA Ieyasu.
You can enjoy the active and beautiful samurais' performances on the stage.
Food stalls serve various kinds of fast food and snacks, while other stalls sell goods related to samurai. The picture in the middle shows a shop that sells toys such as shuriken(ninja star).
